Amwell:  What it is

Amwell is a convenient service for providing healthcare from the convenience of your home, car or work.

They have Board Certified Doctors on call 24/7 so scheduling has never been easier!

Cost:  A single doctor visit (with no insurance) is $49

(There are some providers listed that cover these visits, so check to make sure you don't have a doctor listed)

A Visit:

I don't discuss it much, but I suffer from severe bouts of depression as well as social anxiety.  I most likely also suffer from anemia as well as vitamin deficiency, I say MOST LIKELY because due to my anxiety it prohibits me from actually getting out and going to the doctor to receive the proper care that I should be getting.

So for me, a service like Amwell is a heaven send.  The price of $49 is not much more than my co-pay would be to go and see a "physical" doctor.

My Amwell Experience

First Step:  Choose Your Doctor

Upon creating an account (which was super easy and quick- about 2 minutes), there was a brief update I had to perform on my computer so that my Video on my laptop could be updated to work with the Amwell system.

I then came to this screen that had a list of Doctors available ONLINE at that moment as well as different Specialties I could choose from.

I have been suffering from severe exhaustion and depression and so I chose Medical and chose Ms. Lisa Thompson.

After I had chosen a Doctor, I then went through a few more screens: 

First, the reason for your visit, then it had me select my pharmacy, and then finally it asked for payment (I used a coupon code - which I will share later in the post)

I didn't actually take a screenshot of my visit with the doctor, I didn't want the doctor to be wondering why in the heck I'm fooling with my computer during our visit (She didn't know I was "reviewing" the site).

The "Technical" Aspects:

So, technically speaking, with regards to the ease and use of the Amwell system; I have to say that it is a 5 Star process.  It was super easy to sign up and to go through the process.  It's easy to search to see if your insurance provider is listed with Amwell.

They also have an iPad app as well, so that makes it even easier if you are traveling and need to see a doctor!

My Thoughts:

I really like this service and can honestly say that I can forsee myself using this service in the future.  The price is just too good to not use it in the future.  I believe my copay is $40 to go and see a doctor through my network with my insurance, so $9 more isn't bad considering the convenience and ease of the service.

Now, clearly, you aren't going to be able to see a virtual doctor for EVERYTHING.  During this visit, we discussed my having severe exhaustion (I've been sleeping from 12-18 hours a day) and so in order to really seek help I am going to have to go in to a doctor to have bloodwork done to check for physical causes for my symptoms.

For busy mom's who just barely have time to stop and think for two minutes everyday, this service really could be a life saver!  With a doctor basically on call at any given time, 

the Amwell App is also the first telehealth platfrom to be integrated with Apple's Health app, which can make your visits more effective giving your DR more in depth knowledge of your personal history.

First, let me say that I, myself don't wear these or use them.  My husband who has worked manual labor jobs his whole life is the one who tests these products out.

He was thoroughly impressed with the quality of this particular sleeve.  He said that the fit is unlike any other sleeves he's tested before.  Other sleeves tend to slide down or ride up and this one stays in place all day long.

He said it's helped with the numbing in his fingers that he experiences due to a nerve in his arm.  He doesn't experience the numbing or tingling sensation whilst wearing the sleeve.

The fit he says is absolutely perfect.  It's comfotable and  doesn't leave him itching as other sleeves in the past have done.

Shaun can't speak highly enough of this sleeve.  When asked what he would rate it, he said DEFINITELY five stars.  

I trust my husband's opinion and so I definitely would recommend this for anyone in the market for compression sleeves.  They have other types in addition to the elbow sleeve as well.

Putting It Together:

It was really simple to put the Curvassure by Contour system together.  It took maybe ten minutes tops to put the electrodes inside and connect the wires and to fire the system up!!

My Thoughts:

I'll be honest, I've had so much stuff going on in my personal life, that I've neglected to use the system regularly and so I can't really give you a full review or report on how well the system works in regards to firming your backside...

If you are familiar with "tens" units, then you are pretty familiar with what this system basically is.  The electrodes send little shocks to your backside and I guess stimulate your nerves or muscles...  I guess it's kinda like exercise for the lazy???  I'm sure it probably works better if you use it in conjuction with a workout regimen.

It definitely feels neat though!  It's like a massage for your butt!  The shorts are also so SUPER cute !!  I wouldn't be at all embarassed to go to the gym or walking in these! They are stylish even if you do have four round pads that are poking out of your bootie...  The color is probably one of my favorite parts to the whole thing!!

A Part of Sassy's New Year, New You Series

New Year, New You

With the dawning of a New Year about to be upon us, it's a time when many are thinking of things they would like to do better or differently with the start of this new and fresh start.  One of the most popular New Year's Resolutions would probably be weightloss and healthier living.

I know for myself, I truly need to become more active, I remember as a teen my mother telling me that if I wasn't careful my muscles would atrophy and I needed to begin to work out so that I wouldn't lose my "muscle definition".  Now as an adult, I can truly grasp what she meant.  Being a "stay at home mom", I am often times sitting on the computer working for long stretches of time.  I'm ashamed to say that I'm not an overly "active person". 

One of the things that I truly hope to accomplish during the New Year, is to start an exercise routine.  I've received an unusual number of Yoga Towels, etc for review and so I truly have no excuse not to give it a try.  Yoga isn't something I've done yet, but it is on my "I want to do" list.  

Gecko Yoga Mat Bag:

So, the ONE thing I do NOT have as of yet is an actual "Yoga Mat", I have plenty of huge towels that are meant to go OVER the mat, but not the actual mat itself.  This bag is actually made for your Yoga Mat, and so since I don't actually have a "mat", I've just used it for my favorite Yoga Towel.  I will say, that it seems pretty roomy inside.  It also has a pocket on the inside, which I feel would be extremely handy for traveling to work out.

It also is a gorgeous bag!  This bag actually comes in a plain black option as well.  I, however, felt this bag was much prettier with it's lotus flower design emblazoned on it.  It has a pretty long strap, which makes it easy to lug around as well!

BottomLine:

I'm assuming that this bag will accomodate most yoga mats.  On that assumption, I have to say that this is a really nice bag and I can't wait until it's actually HOLDING an actual MAT instead of just the Yoga Towels!

Detox

All of our bodies build up unwanted nasty stuff that we need to rid it of.  I've never personally tried a colon cleanse, but I suppose I probably should.  With as many Monster Java's as I drink I'd be horrified to see the nasty that is floating around my intestines and colon and kidney's.

So, this is probably one of the most awesome items I've had the privilege to have reviewed.  As a smoker, I receive a lot of stares and a lot of judgements made against me in my personal life.  Now, had I known everything I know now about the health risks associated with cigarette smoking, I would think that I probably wouldn't have ever picked up a cigarette in my life.

However, since a time travel machine hasn't yet been invented that i know of, all I can do is move forward in my life.  I've been dying to find a healthier solution to my nasty  habit and so when this opportunity presented itself, I have to say that I was thrilled.

Unboxing the Deluxe Kit:

• Two Small Batteries
• A Wall Plug
• A USB plug
• 1 package of Cartomizers (5 pk you choose your flavor & Strength)

Pls Note:  The second small battery isn't shown because my husband had it at the time....

So, I received the Deluxe kit as well as the bigger battery for review.  I've now had this about a month and so I've had plenty of time to play with it and really see what I love and what I don't love about this device.

** The Cartomizers come in a HUGE variety of flavors as well as strengths!  You can choose from non-nicotine, light, medium, high and super high strengths!  They have flavors ranging from strawberry all the way to flavors like Cappuccino.  They almost assuredly have a flavor you will love!  My personal favorite so far is the Vanilla!

My Thoughts:

So, while I do love this, I've still been unable to fully stop smoking.  I don't know if it's a mind thing or if I perhaps need a stronger cartomizer.  Although, I have about the strongest levels you can receive.  I received five different flavors all with the "High" strength level.  I don't know if I can't taste the flavors because I didn't put down my nicotine cigarettes for a long time before trying this.

I received:  Watermelon, Cappuccino, Coffee, Vanilla and Regular High flavors.  The only flavor that I truly could taste was the Vanilla, but I was completely out of cigarettes when I was using this flavor and so I really don't know if that's the reason or what...  I wish that I could happily report that I had put my cigarettes down, unfortunately I can't say that I have.

My husband however, seems to really prefer this to his cigarettes and could probably put the cigarettes down altogether once we are able to order some additional cartomizers.  

Small Battery VS Large Battery

So, I received in addition to the Deluxe Kit a Large Battery as well.  You can DEFINITELY tell a HUGE difference between the two batteries.  For starters, I first charged my Large Battery on Thanksgiving weekend and used it occassionally all month and when I went to use the Large Battery it still had a bit of juice even three weeks later (Now, this was only using it occassionally).  However, I was still impressed that this was able to hold a charge for that long!

The smaller battery I like because it doesn't require you to push a button you just inhale and BAM instant gratification.  The larger battery you must press the button in order to "smoke".  However, it's not that huge of a deal, but it does take some getting used to.  The smaller battery also lights up at the end kinda making you feel like you are smoking a real cigarette, but the charge doesn't hold for NEAR as long as the larger battery charge lasts.

I also imagine that the smaller battery would make your cartomizers last a bit longer since you aren't getting as much "Juice".

If you have ever picked up a vaporizer at your local gas station or tobacco shop, you likely were dealing with having to "pour" liquid inside.  That wasn't the case with this and one thing that i DEFINITELY love about it.  The first experience I ever had with a vaporizer, I broke it immediately because I poured the liquid inside the wrong place.  This is DUMMY Proof!  It was literally so freaking easy to figure out!!

Overall

So, overall I love this device.  Have I put down my cigarettes for good?  No, but that's nothing to do with how good of a device this is and more of the mentality I have with my unhealthy attachment to lighting my cigarettes....  The price tag is really decent for what this is.  The cartomizers also are very competitive when compared to the price tag of your cigarettes!  If you are looking for an alternative to tobacco smoking I would definitely recommend the NuvoCig as a great place to start!

There's An App For That?!?

These days, it's hard to imagine a life "Pre-Apps".  Apps have become a way of life for many of us.  There are many apps that have been designed to make our lives easier.  Now there is an app for keeping up with your weight that helps you to calculate your BMI and other health items affiliated with your weight.

Set-Up is SIMPLE and done from you Phone or Tablet!

 Unlike a lot of digital scales where you have to program the actual scale, this scale you can program your profile from your connected device (must first download the app!).  After you've installed the app onto your device it's super easy to upload your profile.

The app will ask you for your name, gender, which unit of measurement to use, birthday, height and also your level of fitness activity!

As you can see from my own profile, I am no extremely active (I probably needed a less than ordinary option, however that wasn't an option).

 Syncing...

Once you have your app opened and are standing on the device it gets to work!  Now, when I was trying to connect my device from the Bluetooth menu, it said that my app wasn't compatible.  However, upon opening the app and also standing on my scale, it go to working immediately!  I didn't have to hit a sync button or anything!

 Once it's finished syncing with your device, it will prompt you to accept the incoming data.

As you can see to the right side, this is what the app calculated based on the information I provided during the set up and after weighing!

Now, I'll be REAL honest here, I have NO CLUE what half of these items mean..  That's ok, because your app can help you understand all these things also!!

I LOVE that this app has "Dummy" instructions for someone like myself, who has no clue what half of these things mean!
But, hopefully, now that I have this app and scale I can actually learn more about what these things mean and try to get myself healthier!

Overall Thoughts

I have had quite a few scales I've had the privlege to try this year.  And while, each have had their own unqiue benefits, I have to say that this particular scale has far exceeded any expectations I have had.

It's been the most easy to set up and use! It goes above and beyond providing the extra information about your BMR, BMI and Bone and all the other information this app provides.  It truly is by far the easiest to work! Other scales I've wanted to beat my head against the wall trying to get it to know the difference between myself and my daughter.  Now, all we have to do is set up profiles for each of us and have the app open to our own profiles when we use the scale!

I like that I can have multiple profiles on my app and just change it with a couple clicks!  In order to add multiple users to your app, 1) Click on Settings 2) Click on your name 3) Click on the Plus sign to add a new profile / user

The Easy@Home Thermometer, is so much more than just a regular thermometer!  With three different modes, this thermometer can give you the current temp in your home, as well as taking your child's temperature!

Unfortunately, just today I had to use this.  Every year for the passed three years my daughter has come down with the flu or something each Christmas.  This Christmas we were so hoping it would not come back to haunt her, but we weren't quite so lucky.

I woke up to a sick child and upon franticly running around to try to find a thermometer, I finally remembered this little gadget being on my Review Shelf.  Thank GOD!  Unfortunately, it only confirmed what I already knew, that she DID in fact have a fever.

NO TOUCH

You know, when your sick and you have a sore throat, the last thing you want to do is stick a thermometer under your tongue for any length of time.  So, the fact that we now have this handy gadget in which we can take temps without touching the "Sick" person, really does help out!

All I did was pick the Mode: Body and then hit the scan button and I was quickly and painlessly able to get my daughter's temperature.  Nothing could have been easier!

Had I needed to see the temperature in the room , I would have simply chosen the Room Mode instead!  It really is a handy little gadget to have!

Getting Physical:

So, my daughter and I put our sweatbands on and proceeded to do our own version of  a workout video to "Eye of the Tiger".  I uploaded the video and it was flagged for using the song :(  So, I can't upload it here to show you these in action.

But, needless to say that wearing these truly did get us in the spirit of working out and wanting to get up and move.  Something about these sweatbands just make you want to dance (our form of exercising!).

Quality:

The quality of these sweatbands were surpsingly really nice.  I've had sweatbands before and they just felt very cheaply made, yet these truly feel as if they have been made with quality materials and are going to outlast.  They are gorgeous and I still like grabbing them and putting them on whenever the mood strikes!

Quality:

The headband that I received seems to be a great product.  I actually am using it as a headband for when I put my make-up on!  I have another headband, but it's more cutesy and I really don't want to get my makeup all over it, so this is perfect for that!  

However, it truly is a nice product!  If you are looking for wearables than they have a huge range of options from sunglasses to ponchos to bandanas and flip-flops!

A Workout For Your ARM:

Gyro Force Ball

 So, this is the most awkward review I've ever done.  I actually cannot leave a review for this item, because I cannot figure out how to work this thing.  The product information isn't available to even tell you much about it.

What I do know is this:

There's a little ball on the inside, there's a little string that you use to attach around the ball and your supposed to be able to make the inside ball spin and at the same time work out your arm.  I actually watched a guy's Amazon Review on this, but I for the life of me could not make it work.

I am not very coordinated though.  I had my son and his friend try it out and I believe that the friend was able to get it to work, not anywhere near what the guy in the video was doing though.

For many Americans, a nice cup of hot tea is a special treat.  Tea drinking is of course a part of life in places such as Europe.  I'm from the south and so drinking tea for us consists of grabbing our cold sweet tea out of the fridge and pouring over ice.  That's what tea drinking is to me.

However, I know that this isn't the case with everyone.  So, for those of you who prefer a nice hot cup of tea versus "Iced tea" or a "cup of joe", then this is a great little device for you.

It allows you to brew fresh tea with each cup you drink.  Simply put loose tea grinds inside the "tea infuser" and then place in your hot cup of water and you have yourself a nice hot tea (I'm guessing here....  ).  This actually was a gift for my mother-in-law who loves her chai tea!  So, I'm sure she's going to be tickled pink when she has this cute little gift set !

I really like the little compartment that they have for you to place the little infuser part inside when not in use!  It should eliminate quite a bit of mess!!
